Anyway, I *am* very happy to see Time Stranger succeed and people enjoying it. Here’s hoping they use all these new assets and goodwill to make another Hacker’s Memory.

I really should go back and play the DS ones at some point

I think if I hadn’t played Cyber Sleuth, I would adore Time Stranger. As is, it’s still quite good, but you’d def be missing out if you let the new shiny be the end of your Digimon game journey.

Still a hearty rec, but also I wouldn’t say it supersedes anything that came before it. That’s a v weird narrative I’ve seen forming with this game. Still best viewed in context with the other Digimon Story games rather than put on a pedestal, imo (also looking at ppl pitting jt against Legends ZA).

The writing’s not bad fwiw, but you can definitely feel the 8-year development cycle in the game’s structure (dungeons and side quests, too), especially in the back half.

2025 truly one of the years of all time

Is this how people who aren’t homebodies felt during quarantine

I want it to be known that I had plans, man

Just smacks of the kind of game-breaking “quality of life” feature devs are just kinda forced to add to old MMOs to make their lives easier as time goes on

Like, often times those are kinda necessary (trusts in FFXIV because of the small player base), but they’re always a compromise

Designer intent good, actually. Restrictions good. A lot of things branded as “player freedom” can also be seen as “abdication of design.”

Friction is good, and as someone with armored mage glams, if you wanna have a cross-class fantasy, you should have to get creative. This just smacks of a band-aid that shunts the duty for making cool looking gear sets for each diff job onto the player.

I guess the people who like all the streetwear cash shop items are probably ecstatic

Job fantasy of being a stylin’ red mage or a classic FF dragoon out the window, I guess
