Since foreign nations are now paying tariffs anyway, they should repeal those laws, reverse-engineer the US tech stack and allow people to migrate to, say, the Eurostack project. Then we'd see some actual innovation, rather than number-go-up scams.

These companies got their start by reverse-engineering other people's stuff for portability, so naturally they got laws passed to prevent other people from reverse-engineering their stuff, using the threat of tariffs to get foreign nations to pass these laws as well.

"Small states have equal footing" was more important during the formation of the nation, when they had to persuade independent colonies to switch from a system where they did have equal footing. We're pretty much past that point now...

Growing up in the south, I picked up the small talk with strangers (cashier, waitstaff) but it took me almost to my thirties to calibrate for the workplace. It's a way to say "I recognize you as a fellow human being and not just the instrument of a transaction."

James Dobson and his ilk taught that it was the Christian duty of parents to beat their children (even infants) into submission because obedience is the greatest Christian virtue.

If you order police to arrest them and they refuse, that makes them complicit. Might put a dent in the stubborn worship of police forces. But you also risk looking weak.
