like even in 7 Gaiden when you play as Kiryu again, he still feels like himself with how much of a brick wall he is while also just having what makes the Judgment games so fun to me

I’d argue the Kiryu Saga in general feels fine but repetitive, it’s with Judgment onwards that feels more intuitive while mixing the best of multiple fighting styles that started with Ishin

Idk, I actually did end up caring about the characters a lot, might be one of my favorite casts in RPGs, but I don’t want to continue to spoil too much about the new narrative

Hell, in all of the HD-2D Remakes of the Erdrick trilogy, they gave the main antagonist of II (Hargon) a more grounded backstory, instead of being a mustache twirling villain, he was someone that overcame with grief and ends up being the villain, not just to 2, but the entire trilogy also

I love the proper characterization of the party members, an idiot with a heart of gold, revenge story folding into a more gray narrative, someone trying to prove herself, and hell they give the protagonist an internal issue of the fact they’re the only Hero that cannot use magic
