Two years ago, my dad at 78 was walking 3 miles a day. Every day. Hurt “his back” weeding and it turned out he had massive bone destruction of the 4th and 5th rib. Stage 4 cancer and he died 6 weeks later. All happened really fast

I was having a hard time describing how a plate of cultured cells didn’t look healthy to a new undergrad in the lab. He looked at them and said, “oh yeah, the vibes are off.” Thank god for Gen Z.

In 2019, I was hospitalized with a severe case of HepA about 3 months after running a 1:29 half marathon. Being lean and fit did not keep me out of the hospital.
