It tragic. And a large percentage of krill and sardines are used as feed in fish farming, which in itself causes all sorts of environmental issues, while leaving whales, seals and penguins to starve. Then as you say, the H5N1 bird flu which originated in factory farmed poultry is also killing them.

In Australia feral cats kill over 1.5 billion mammals, birds, reptiles & frogs and 1.1 billion invertebrates each year. They're also a threat to >200 threatened species and 37 migratory species and have contributed to the extinction of more than 20 mammals species.
