It's been 12 years since I graduated law school, but as I recall, castle doctrines apply to UNARMED intruders. An armed intruder, pointing a gun at you, without a warrant, is, I believe, a self-defense claim.

I'd lost a job, and we were desperately poor. Asked my mom to give me $ to buy things for our kids, as my Christmas gift. The kids wanted things we couldn't afford, and their friends were getting. They didn't understand why Santa wouldn't bring them those things. We told them the truth. No regrets.
