Good plan. We live that way - I always have about six months of shelf-stable food, including dried beans and rice. I also keep dehydrated milk, canned good, and alternate forms of energy. We have both a gas and a wood fireplace, charcoal grill, propane grils. My kids call me "acoplyse mom".
