I wonder where less brain power would have gotten us in the 40’s. Student grants (yes they were abused), but it gave Britain a cutting edge in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and into the 00’s. Paying for university has stifled the potential of Britain.

It’s been some variation of Britain since Greek and Roman times. Hell Wales itself is a word that originally means outsider or foreigner. The Britons were the Beaker folks, Celts etc, and predate England by millennia.
