OMG. So Newsom, as an infant or toddler (born in 1967) somehow hatched a plan to destroy John Lindsay’s political career. Lindsay was mayor of New York from 1966 to 1973. Got it.

Agreed. I disagree with pretty much everything Charlie Kirk believed. But I 100% support his right to speak. Killing someone because you don’t like what they say should be condemned by everyone. Period. Full stop.

My grandmother fled Mexico on a freight train with 5 kids under 10. One of whom was my dad. I am a member of the 1st generation of my family to be born here. I believe in the Bill of Rights, equal justice under the law, and representative democracy. I am America.

Muchas gracias 🙂 It doesn’t have to be big. Volunteer for some org that supports civil rights for everyone, peacefully protest, donate if you can, speak up if it’s safe to friends/family, go shopping for people who are afraid to go shop or pick up their meds. Small things mount up. It all counts.

I think the only cure we have is to do everything we can to oust the current regime and make sure it isn’t replaced with a similar one.

Local cops came to my door last week. For a legit purpose (not involving me). My first thought was “Oh sh*t! ICE??“ A year ago it would not have entered my mind. Now, I’m always on alert. I could ultimately prove I was born here. But how long would it take and where would I be waiting? It sucks.

The overt/covert racism has been present from the founding. The acceptance of non-whites was fine as long as we knew our place. But when we began to demand the same rights, and began to succeed in professions & businesses historically filled by whites, well. Not so welcoming any more.

Yeah, I no longer am an active member but the principles of respect for everyone, helping those in need, and gratitude I was taught have stuck with me. I do my best but well, being a lowly human, I’m not always successful 😄

True. Pope Francis had a background in chemistry. Pope Leo’s degree is in math. I was raised in post-Vatican II Catholicism. My parish CCD (religious ed) focused on thinking, helpfulness, and also gratitude for the good things science provided. Our teacher told us “God gave you a brain. Use it.”

Most Latinos fear for ourselves, friends, and family. I don’t fly. I don’t go to court. I provide legal services virtually only. My asst. carries her passport and military ID. Being born here or having a bar card will make no difference. It’s grab first, and sort out the legality later. Maybe.
