Phyllis got caught in the rain but keeps pecking away with the same sass she's always had.

My poor girls don't have enough sense to come out of the rain :-(

Sometimes I sit in my backyard in the sun, and my chicken Dolly approaches me and looks me in the eye, and I feel a real interspecies connection. Then she starts pecking at my arm and I realize she was sizing up whether she could get away with eating me.

Just to be clear, I'm a lawyer with chickens, not a lawyer for chickens. It's great to have a connection with my food and know the chickens that produce my eggs have a good life!
