Absolutely correct.

Maybe I should have clicked on the link...😂. Sorry Des.

Yep. Love Nolan Porter. Think it was northern soul DJ Richard Searling who introduced the song to joy division while they were doing a demo for RCA.... Not all of this could be true because it's quite some years that I read Des.

Also a fantastic cover. There's a youtube interview with Will Sargent & Brian Griffin who designed the early covers.

I have previously posted how I got cheap brand new Dr Martens from mates who worked at Royal Mail. 😂

The army & navy stores. A staple for many "Fashion" items then. Dr martens were cheap there. I got a US army jacket there as echo and the bunnymen sported the camouflage look at their early gigs.

Hard times in the '80's for a lot of people. A decent jacket to have especially if free from a workplace.

Wearing one as I type. A "designer" duffel made by Gloverall. I think £200 to £300 new. An eBay bargain for £60 in excellent condition and just the thing for a cold day like today.😊

There was a subsidised bar in the 1980's ran by and only for council workers. It operated from 3pm when pubs had to shut. We would borrow the donkey jackets of our mates which had the name of the council on the PVC patch on the back. The uniformed guy on the door let us in every Friday without fail.

Great minds...😂. I'm not to far from the ship canal and didn't know the clothing was derived from it's construction. Every day is a school day.😊

Interesting answer. Donkey jackets were named after the steam-powered "donkey engines" operated by navvies (laborers) during the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal around 1888. These, and later, manual laborers or "donkey work" operators, required durable, weatherproof wool clothing.

No idea Lea. It's a great question . Perhaps if you were given one at work you were expected to work like a donkey.🤔.

3 years more knowledge and experience then Des.😊. Quite a few of my school mates wore them with wooly hats the year before we left. That year was 1980 and we were all into 2 tone and the mighty Dexys midnight runners.

Morning Des. 1965 the year I was born 61 years ago yesterday. The first day of my working life I was given a donkey jacket and a pair of steel toe cap boots as an apprentice wood machinist. It was at a large saw mill you got to via a cobbled street just like that. Wonderful evocative photo Des.

Take care of you and yours Des. Hope the week is kind to you.

Thank you for your commitment for looking on our behalf. With all that contamination I bet the shower afterwards resembled Meryl Streep's in the 80's film Silkwood.😳
I do miss Roddy's annual birthday messages though.

Saw him at Glastonbury 2008. Just walked on in a pin striped suit and doft his hat to the crowd. He looked so cool calm and elegant. Got to love and respect Canadians. ( Especially true at the moment).

Wow that's scary.😂. I imagine that's what Melania's face would look like if she found Donald J waiting in her bed.😉

Morning Des. Great photograph but hanging those toys out like that? Could traumatise that child for life! 😉

Chill out and watch the washing go round. I believe this is what our parents did before we got a fourth TV channel.

It is Des. First heard them on a local radio station. The Revolution. One of the best radio stations I've heard. They had Clint Boon, Martin Coogan some Hacienda DJ's It was brilliant for a couple of years. Then the money men moved in tried turning it MOR again. All the DJs resigned. A great ending .

Lovely painting. Renard the fox = Great tune by Julian Cope.
Last comment "Home again" = Lovely tune by Edwyn Collins. My Mrs says I'm obsessed by music. Can't understand why.😂

Will have to check this out Des. Loved World of Twist & Earl Brutus. Not heard of The Dials so will give those a go too. Another school day thanks Des.
