There was fun stuff in this movie for people who like to follow the silly tiffs about race and genre in popular music, but it had at least one more ending than it needed. There was something unnecessarily Inglorious about the part at the end.

Decades ago I had no idea who P. Rizzuto was but I heard Billy Crystal say “this is Phil Rizzuto for the Money Store” and it was one of those impressions that was funny even if the subject was unfamiliar.

Perhaps not as elegant as his stage work discussed here, but anyone who loves AR has to watch the early King of the Hill episode with Rickman voicing the Renaissance Faire king who truly thinks he’s the king of Plantersville, TX.

I’ve only walked around Indianapolis’s downtown once but it left me thinking that up there they’re only so willing to be Confederates.

I had a strange rock fan feeling a few years ago walking past a dilapidated Fillmore in wealthy SF. This photo brought that feeling back. In a world full of things needlessly “monetized,” it’s strange to see something special not treated special.

T2 and Jurassic Park came out within a few months of each other. With rare exceptions, they made the visuals of every prior movie look obsolete. For people baby boomer age and younger who watch movies, that’s a before/after moment like The Jazz Singer brought in sound in the 1920s.

Like that joke (Woody Allen’s?) about not wanting to be in a club that would have you as a member

You can feel it in the textbooks that they want to honor the country whose better angels saw the light, but not because of activism. I make sure my students know she had a position with the NAACP.

I’m just a high school teacher with no work to offer but I want to say a kind word because few internet things have made me smile more often in the last decade than your thing has. Perhaps I haven’t paid close enough attention but if you tell me something I can pay to subscribe to, I will.

He used to be my Congressman and he’s a great one for performing ridiculous online bravado while blocking people on social media who ask simple and fair questions that aren’t MAGA softballs.
