I am unsure if this thread will remain up, but I wanted to at least write out my reflection.
I don't know what will come of this, if I'm doing the right thing or not.
I do know that living in fear forever is giving him control of me, and I've grown past that.

He's an asshole. No two ways about it. I know you're forced to work with him but man, start whatever process you need to internally give him no more time of day.

The activity therapist in me says get some easy to make meals, like canned soup or frozen dinners. You don't need to spend time and energy cooking when you're grieving.
