I wasn't necessarily sold on this and the plot shows that even in my extreme optimistic scenario it would at least take another 5 years for price-parity. With perfect hindsight we can now have a look 10 years on!

Back in the day everybody was predicting the death of HDDs. Due to the steep decline in prices of SSDs. SSDs were destined to replace slow and fragile HDDs once they became cheap enough.
