Watched THE FIFTH FLOOR (1978) a very peculiar thriller/horror that asks, 'what would a disco-themed version of One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest look like'? It's not particularly good, but the odd vibe and cast - Robert Englund, Anthony James, Bo Hopkins, Mel Ferrer, Earl Boen - keep you watching.

You know, I’ve never actually seen Boogie Nights. But you look at the body of work and he’s an ass literally ever time.

there are longer films I really love but this story doesn’t need to be this long.

It was bad enough on my tv. I dead to think what it looked like on a cinema screen.

The other thing about this is the CGI. It’s shocking. An embarrassment to all involved.

Watching this made me wonder what Halliwell makes of Terrence Malick. It didn't disappoint. More praise than I expected, but the final line is beautiful. It's just dripping in condescension... 🤣

Watched THE THIN RED LINE (1998). I wasn't entirely sure what this film was trying to say, and from what I read about how this film was edited, I don't think Terrence Malick was sure either. Still, it was worth watching as it's really going to help me out the next time I play Framed.

Amazon have removed the guns from their Bond posters, giving the tantalising impression that Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan think you’re a wanker.

No. Both Dragon Wars (2007) and Alien Rubicon (2024) have 9 exploding helicopters. You Only Live Twice has 4 exploding helicopters the most of any Bond film.

He's got a decent part in this, so you should enjoy your time with the film.

If you're going to blow up a helicopter, you should always look your best!

This is an adaptation of the 'Richard Stark' Parker novels. I don't think aficionados will find much to please them here. This is very much a Shane Black film, rather than a Parker one.

Watched PLAY DIRTY (2025) for the most part this is a fun, twisty, heist thriller. However, it's not nearly as amusing as it thinks it is, so at 2hr6m it begins to drag. None of this is helped by casting the ever charmless Mark Wahlberg in the lead role, as he doesn't have the chops to carry this.

Yee gods that's pish! I'm not counting that one - just CGI flames gently licking a helicopter.

The Exploding Helicopter podcast returns! We're back to review the Russian superhero oddity GUARDIANS (2017).

Ever wondered what The Avengers would've been like with a side-order of nostalgia for the Soviet Union? Then look no further.

What I find interesting is that these type of Chinese action films mostly focus on rescuing their citizens. I've yet to see a film where there is a threat to China that has to be stopped. Or a threat to the world that they decide to stop. Influenced by their foreign policy, I'm guessing.
