I am sick of Britain clinging to this delusion that we can have a thriving, fully functional state while paying low tax. We have 50 years of evidence that this DOESN’T WORK and yet people still complain about it. Time for the country to grow up and smell the coffee.

Couldn’t get more than halfway through this one. The guest’s lengthy jargon laden outpourings with barely a pause for breath made this more of a chore than an educational listen. Shame as the topic is an interesting one.

Both Ralph and Betty appear in the “Not a prequel or a sequel but an equal” follow up to Rocky Horror, Shock Treatment. Little known but worth watching.

We don’t pay enough tax period!!! As a country we’ve swallowed the lie that we can get Top Quality services for cut price costs, despite every piece of evidence to the contrary.

2/2 I’ll be writing to my local MP (a Cabinet member) explaining why I’m resigning my membership. I didn’t vote for change so that I can react with same mixture of shame and revulsion from Labour Party policies that Tory policies elicited. To say I expected better is an horrific understatement.

I joined Labour under Ed Miliband’s leadership, never voted for Corbyn’s leadership (he didn’t even get my 4th vote) but remained a member. I voted for Starmer for Leader. My membership has been hanging by a thread since that hateful “Island of Strangers” speech but Mahmood has cut the cord. 1/2

2/2 I remember my Dad showing me the Fuel Ration card which was proposed, circulated but never used. The country was in a state. Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.

I was 6-16 years of age in the 70s. I have clear memories of constant strikes, power cuts, the 3 Day Working week, being chastised by my parents for breaking the mantle on our gas lamp which would need replacing before the next power cut. 1/2
