I’m not surprised in the least. Pretty much everything in the USA is processed before use. Take making a “homemade pumpkin pie”. In the US you buy the base already prepared and the pumpkin and evaporated milk from a can. In Australia I make all of mine from scratch with my own homegrown pumpkins.
