Officially 67,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 2023, probably many more. 83% were civilian acc to Israeli military's own data - so 75 civilians killed every day on average. Yet media & political comment focussed overwhelmingly on 20 living Israeli hostages, 28 dead.

Palestinians await release of loves ones too, many held without trial, many tortured & some even raped and sexually abused. But for BBC & many politicians Palestinian lives do not count, their suffering irrelevant. And yes trolls, delighted Israeli hostages are being released

The Turkish Foreign Minister stresses that we have to be watchful in this transition period in Syria. Everyone should be treated equally. He says that any chemical weapons stocks must be secured. He stressed that the full territorial integrity of Syria must be maintained

BBC continues to refer to the Israel-Gaza war online but includes stuff on Lebanon. Begs the question what one does call the whole horror? Not easy to use a descriptor that covers it all. (Iran, Syria, Iraq, Yemen...)

Note condemn not exression of concern. But Smotrich did not make comments. He ordered plans to be drawn up. It was not a view but a policy position.
