Chris in Argyll
@chris-in-argyll.bsky.social
Englishman adopted by beautiful 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Slightly left of centre. Enjoy polite, friendly, and respectful debate but will try to avoid arguments (that’s for the other place). Apparently I’m egotistical for speaking up for men’s right to be a father to their kids.
Answer the question.

Yep your fault for asking questions with a false premise. But there we go.

So where’s your answer? I’m waiting.
December 10, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Asking a question with a false premise - that I would somehow “like” an HR to be removed, could also give the appearance of dishonesty.

So come on. Answer my question?
December 10, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Now now. I answered you honestly. Now you answer my question.
December 10, 2025 at 4:56 PM
But given you seem to be trying to provoke me with such questions. Here’s one for you:

If conscription becomes a possibility (voluntary or compulsory), would that be compatible with the list of HRs? Or would we need to be flexible in our application of them?
December 10, 2025 at 4:32 PM
I wouldn’t like to see any removed (and not sure why you think I would).

What I think (and fear) is we’re at risk of getting crushed between authoritarians who don’t give two-hoots about any of our human rights. They could all go.

We do need to stay true to our core values though.
December 10, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Very true. But that’s becoming a possibility we can’t ignore.
December 10, 2025 at 11:08 AM
It’s a good question Paul and I wouldn’t pretend to have easy answers. But I’m in no doubt that uncomfortable sacrifices are going to be necessary.
December 10, 2025 at 11:07 AM
I think he’s right.

We’ve grown flabby lying under the cosy quilt of peace and now expect everything as our right.

Putin knows this and will exploit it. Trump too.

We can’t protect ourselves and our peace with notions of our human rights (sadly).
December 10, 2025 at 8:55 AM
Good letters. What is clear is the U.K. and Europe has been asleep at the wheel when it comes to defending ourselves. Allowing our defences to be hollowed out whilst relying on the US to protect us.

That’s going to have to change and quickly.

On 🔥 Maureen! 👏👏

There’s loads of companies registered offshore involved in critical infrastructure. It’s a scandal. Not just for offshoring profits but also security (concealed beneficial owners).

Another example is Arqiva (responsible for broadcast infrastructure). Ownership 18levels deep but ultimately in Jersey

The two excerpts posted by Jolyon made no mention of blood tests whatsoever (nor GPs being ordered not to offer them).
December 8, 2025 at 5:04 PM
I’m not sure I understand how this is a valid comparison:

The prescription of hormones is currently blocked “for fear of long term side-effects” whereas blood tests are unlikely to give rise to side effects.
December 8, 2025 at 12:43 PM
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Walker a full-throated Brexiter?
December 7, 2025 at 5:56 PM
Agree with others she’s a great asset for the Gov (even better that the right-wind media are triggered by her).
December 7, 2025 at 1:14 PM
Under the Tories such “crimes” would be rewarded with a lifetime peerage.
December 7, 2025 at 1:12 PM
Thanks Warren. This, along with many of your posts, do give me some hope (Even though I can be a grinch at times).

I work through my own small business and employer NI plus client late payments have made life incredibly tough of late.
December 6, 2025 at 12:32 PM
Nah mate. Gathering the evidence for evidenced-based policy making is never-ever a waste of time.

Only populists make policy without robust evidence to underpin it.
December 5, 2025 at 5:45 PM
Yes. I said. Your argument is whataboutery. I get you’re offended.

Hope you have a happy Xmas.
December 5, 2025 at 5:34 PM
If it’s obvious then it’ll be a quick simple study.

Doesn’t mean that establishing an evidence base and reporting using that to develop solutions is a bad idea.
December 5, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Sorry but that’s whataboutery. Thinking the worst because “Whatabout when he…”
December 5, 2025 at 4:29 PM
2 wrongs don’t make a right.

Most adults know that basic moral concept.
December 4, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Disagree. It makes perfect sense to understand why there’s been such massive growth in ppl with mental health issues, ADHD etc.

It might be over-diagnosis. It might not.

Once the reasons are understood then the causes addressed. It might allow treatment to be more targeted to those in most need.

Then please do visit Scotland. You’ll be very welcome.

And Argyll is particularly gorgeous! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
