What kind of performance do you need? Do you need real time analytics (low latency)? Or are your data sets too large for a trad. DBs (parallelism)?

DWs emerge as a natural evolution of process. Analytics needs to span data from various operational data stores, often implemented by different teams, at different times, on different systems. That’s really it.

They’re still wildly useful even if they don’t get much better. I’m looking forward to deeper integrations between models and tools. Right now there’s a lot of copy/pasting.
