good luck. he's running for re-election with the support of all three of the state delegates in his district and is sitting on a $1.1M war chest

The Sinclair Sun published an article containing the responses to Ferguson's letter from various legislators, and one of them, Charles Sydnor III, said that he would sue to overturn any new congressional map passed by the MDGA. Are we just obsessed with losing? www.baltimoresun.com/2025/10/29/b...

and even under a 5D-2C-1R map, dems would be favored in the two competitive districts. the geography is just that bad for Rs in MD
October 29, 2025 at 11:53 AM
5D-2C-1R is the best possible map MD Rs could get, but 6D-2R is more likely if the SCoMD overturns the new map. but even then, i don’t think Ferguson really looked into their ruling on MD’s state leg map in 2022, which IMO shows an 8D-0R map would likely survive a challenge bsky.app/profile/chri...
looking back at the SCOMD's 4-3 decision (which would likely be 5-2 now since one of the dissenting justices retired and was replaced by a Moore appointee last year) on maryland's legislative redistricting plan, i guess cleanness doesn't actually matter all too much... so the LRAC map might be fine

no Moore v. Hershey poll?
October 16, 2025 at 11:45 AM
yep, it switched from Prince George's County to Charles County just over three years ago! www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
Analysis | Is Prince George’s still the richest majority-Black county in America?
The best data shows neighboring Charles County has become majority-Black in recent years, and incomes there are much higher than in Prince George's County.

The orange and teal districts are competitive, while the red and green districts are safe D and the yellow & blue districts are safe R. Harris won the orange district 51.6-45.3 and the teal district 49.9-47.1 in 2024. Moore won both 49.6-47 (teal) and 52.3-43.8 (orange) in 2022

Wicomico's a county I'll be closely watching in 2026 for sure. A VRA lawsuit forced them to abolish their at-large county council seats and instead draw a new seven district map that looks like this. Moore & Harris won 4/7 districts here, so if Dems play their cards right, they could take a majority
October 13, 2025 at 7:21 PM
Dems haven't ran a candidate in 38B since Norman Conway was defeated by Carl Anderton in 2014, but now Anderton works in the Moore administration and there's a strong Dem candidate running for the seat in 2026, so it'll be an interesting race to watch for sure
October 13, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Harris won it by 2,265 votes in 2024, so it's all a matter of turnout for Dems there. She also won 38B by 1,334 votes, which makes it the closest district in the state by raw votes (the next closest is DIstrict 2B in Hagerstown, which Harris won by 1,378 votes)
October 13, 2025 at 7:07 PM
fun fact: there's only one Democratic county commissioner who holds a district won by Trump in 2024, and it's Randy Laird, who represents Crisfield in Somerset County. Trump won his district 65-32, while Laird won reelection in 2022 by a 78-22 margin
October 13, 2025 at 4:57 PM
very doable, considering there's two legislative districts won by Harris and Moore but held by Rs (33B and 38B) and several R-held county council/commissioner districts won by Harris in 2024 (note: this map uses old districts for Baltimore and Wicomico counties)

If Thurmont/Woodsboro move to the left in 2026, or if Brunswick/Urbana/New Market continue to build new housing as fast as they are, it could realistically flip. I sure hope someone at the MD Dems is keeping an eye on this, because I sure am
October 12, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Fun fact: Biden, Harris, Moore, and McClain-Delaney won two of the three county council districts in LD-04, including District 2 (currently held by Steve McKay, a Republican). Lierman and Alsobrooks lost all three
