Canada’s GDP per capita ‘stagnated’ because a lot of not-so-rich newcomers came here.
USA’s GDP per capita grew because the rich are getter a lot richer, really fast.
Canada did the right thing.

Melville island is remote and uninhabited. But if natural gas pipelines can be laid across the Baltic Sea, they can probably be placed on the Arctic seabed as well.

Canada's largest conventional natural gas fields are the Drake and Hecla gas fields on Melville Island’s Sabine Peninsula. When discovered in 1969, the reserves were considered unmarketable. That might not be the case today.
