Writing is definitely a field of passion and not profit. When I set out to publish my book, I really just wanted a professional copy on my own shelf, any other sales were just a bonus!

"That's exactly what we were planning on doing before everything went haywire," Sonny said.

"While I'm sure I have no idea what a
'Hell-mouth' is," Haniel shook his head, "I do have a theory as to what does exist at this origin point."
"You've never seen Buffy the Vampire
Slayer?" Maya asked the angel.
"Buffy the-This is a... person?" Haniel
twisted his face in confusion.
"We thought the origin point might lead to a fissure of some kind," I explained, "possibly to Hell."
"Like in the TV show," Maya finished.
"I see," Haniel claimed, still visibly confused
by the reference.

Told my best friend that I was publishing my book this week (he had no idea, we don’t talk about that) and he asked how much I make off each sale. When I told him roughly 3 dollars, he just went wide eyed and said “Jesus”.

contact!" Sonny fired back.
"So what?"
"So, if the angels find out my contact has secret knowledge, it won't stay secret to them for long."
"What are you talking about? Who is this
guy?"
Sonny sighed. He did that a lot when talking
to me. "The guy isn't what's important. It's what he may have found. Do you remember what I said about lost books in The Library of Eternity?"
"Vaguely."
Sonny rolled his eyes. "Aside from the fact that I love knowing about things the angels don't, there's a real reason we can't tell them about this.
Why do you think there are entire subjects missing from a library of infinite knowledge?"
"Maybe they are restricted, like Haniel told
us."
"I'm sure that's what the higher angels want us to believe," Sonny said. "but that's all part of the coverup!"
"Oh boy." I was instinctively suspicious of anything that followed the word coverup. Inevitably, it was always some kind of insane conspiracy theory.

I waited until the door clicked shut to speak.
"We had a book in our car when we came to see you," I explained. "A very special book that we need to get back."
"The car that you-"
"Crashed into the candy store, yes."
"That's gotta be police evidence by now."
I pointed my finger at her. "Bingo! That's why
I'm here. I need you to help me get it out of the evidence room."
"What?" Grace whisper-shouted and went bug-eyed. She quickly glanced at the door to make sure the detectives hadn't heard her before continuing. "You've got to be out of your mind. How am I supposed to get in there without being seen?
I'm being detained."
