Decent, but only in moderation. As seen at the end of @PeterSinger's TED talk.
guess who agrees with her?

I can't imagine Trump not pardoning Hegseth & Rubio if there's any hint of possible prosecution. He could issue a blanket pardon to anyone involved in the boat strikes so as to make it less obvious who he was really protecting.

In addition to the people that paid him for pardons, Trump has also pardoned a bunch of nobody's that couldn't possibly have paid him a bribe. You just need to Six Degrees of Separation to him and he might give you a pardon.

I got an ad on twitter for a couple who are explicitly seeking a pardon from Trump for PPP loan fraud. They also put up a billboard near Mar-a-lago.

British transphobia is in a class of it's own. In the US there are a lot of people who object to minors transitioning & trans women in sports but would be enraged if a trans coworker was unjustly fired. In the UK, the modal citizen objects to trans people being allowed to have jobs.

the official line is that the monthly IV bruises on his hands are from shaking hands, so we know it's real bad.

several cancer & Alzheimer's treatments are monthly infusions. the Alzheimer's treatments might be prophylactic, but a secret cancer diagnosis would explain his preoccupation with death.

this dynamic also means the true extent of AI use is much more than it seems. if you say you used GenAI to make something then you might wake up to several thousand people yelling at you, so most people just don't say they're using GenAI.
November 26, 2025 at 9:47 PM
yes. most Butlerian Jihadis sincerely believe that AI is guaranteed to Go Away for one reason or another (financial, judicial ruling about copyright, poisoned datasets, etc) and have no plan for what to do if that doesn't happen besides yelling at everyone they catch using AI tools.
November 26, 2025 at 9:31 PM
they are pretending those tools work. people have successfully trained good image models entirely on images "poisoned" by Nightshade & Glaze.
November 26, 2025 at 8:49 PM
similarly, all of the frontier models are now just better than the average person at searching the web to find the answers to questions. you're not going to see the value in that if, like most of Bluesky, you're old enough to have used Boolean operators on Altavista.

in retrospect, the Allied forces should have gassed the Germans and their horse drawn carts ASAP. The French would have suffered horrific casualties from German nerve gas but German logistics would have never recovered.
November 24, 2025 at 5:40 PM
a lot of people are unaware that the other group exists. I completely believe that 9% of people would not know how to answer the question because they 1. can't imagine someone wiping differently from how they wipe and 2. Ambiguity about defining what counts as sitting vs standing, plus squatting.
November 24, 2025 at 5:34 PM
wrong, we have TWO completely separate Beveridge hospital systems, one for veterans (VA) and one for Native Americans (Indian Health Service). You're also forgetting Medicaid, which is like Medicare but is run differently in every state.
November 24, 2025 at 5:26 PM
My money is on his intentions differing. Nikita has said that he considers the current monetization system to be bad and wants to transition to something else. "The money is mostly going to Nigerian & Indian trolls" is exactly the sort of reveal that would create support for change.
November 24, 2025 at 5:01 PM
nikita probably knew about the foreign influence and Musk didn't. Musk is currently pushing US election security, so he actually believed it would show that all of his domestic enemies were actually secret foreigners.
November 24, 2025 at 4:51 PM
do the papers have any discussion of the USA? I've been wondering about exactly this - how D.C. being a backwater relative to e.g. Paris impacts the stability of our government - but I couldn't figure out how to approach the question.

all of the romance authors are going to take to the barricades once ChatGPT is allowed to generate erotica. it's going to hit their ppocketbooks like a meteor.
November 17, 2025 at 5:27 PM
You're right, I googled for a while and the villain of this project is the California Endowment. They would have had a pylon visible from their office.
November 15, 2025 at 4:43 PM
iirc the real issue was that the gondola would have ruined the view from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation's office.
November 15, 2025 at 4:20 PM
yeah, Butlerian Jihadis almost universally believe that LLMs do nothing but recite their training data. now, they can do that, but it's generally regarded by their creators as a failure state to be avoided.

unscrupulous gossip columnists who are the only ones who don't respect The Thin Black Line. there's nothing they love more than roasting one of their own.
November 14, 2025 at 6:39 PM
there is an uncanny valley for authenticity and it's Grok. Grok has the personality of a teenaged edgelord and it's extremely grating to everyone but Musk.
