(2/2) A life I want for myself and my loved ones. Likely, this will take leaving a few comfort zones, and some conscious habit shifts. That’s ok though - I’m now in my mid thirties and it’s time to see what the second half of my life can look like. Happy new year, everyone - let’s make it good.

Here we are at the end of this year. Lots was trash, but lots was great personally. Got out to the maritimes, got engaged, did some pretty intense personal inventory, and got to live in Montreal for another year. Plans for next year are to improve at social media, and get to building a life I (1/2)

That being said, I don’t think the solution to our problems is mindfulness. But the toxicity of online stuff will not go away, even if capitalism completely fails and all fascists are made into Christmas decorations. We should get ready for that.

Maybe the move these days is developing better, formalized, easy-to-impart methods of combatting psychological damage of social media warfare/bot farms. Like, that warfare is why people are dumping $ into AI anyway - it’s to create cyberwarfare suites that destroy the will of people.

It’s such a bummer to see what tech has become. There was a real chance at changing the world permanently for the better like 15 years ago, and now it’s all noise due to information warfare.

That, or maybe I just need to find some cool tech companies? I dunno.

I need to start reading more - I’m developing a very homogenized vocabulary from my social media and I’m not a fan.

Anyway, the photos kicked up some emotions, so now I’m having a lovely pint and not engaging with world events for a breath.

We really did all trust each other more 6 years ago, hey? Covid (or rather how politicized treating a pandemic became) broke so much of our social contract with each other.

Another obvious post, but I’m going through old photos, and I’m struck by the optimism in everyone’s faces. Most of these photos are pre-2015, and there is just… I don’t know, hope? Bright eyes? Woof has it ever been a decade.

Maybe a reason we feel like we are behind the curb in knowing true things about the world is because almost every single news source is paywalled within an inch of its life.

Threads is basically a bunch of people sitting in a burning house saying, « sigh I miss when the house wasn’t on fire » and continuing to sit there.

I cannot say this loud enough - until they prove otherwise, absolutely everyone is making it up as they go along. Without exception. If someone says they are an authority, they better be able to prove it. Otherwise they are likely a bullshit artist.

And to close the late night rants, holy shit is social media boring lately. Like, peak social media was 2016-2021, and then it began devouring itself. Threads and X are tied, X for being full of Nazis, and threads for being boring. Everything else is a race to the bottom. TikTok can hang sorta.

Also there’s no convincing hard righties - they’d rather die than be wrong, so let them die of measles and H5N1. Hope the keto keeps them warm at night.

Brain rot is real because we are recycling the same jokes from a decade ago instead of doing new stuff.

I love a meme, but damn folks let’s go for a walk.

Anywho, thanks for reading my monologue. Get your vaccines, consider masking up again, and try to go for walks without your phone - it’s a gift we can give ourselves.

And the National Post is a fucking rag of a newspaper btw. Awful, awful publication that lost its integrity the minute they started giving Conrad Black column inches.

Also, semitism is defined as Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic. So Israels actions, as they endanger Arabs (and Jews) around the world, is anti-semitic. They must stop killing civilians now.

Also Zionism is distinctly white supremacist, and inately anti-Jewish, so don’t come at me with this anti-semitism bullshit. Jewishness is sacred. Hamas is a terrorist org, and Israel is committing a genocide. The rest at this point, after 100K Palestinian deaths, is noise.
May 26, 2025 at 2:41 PM
Israel-Gaza has always been an anti-Palestine genocide. I don’t post about it because I write MP’s and donate instead, but it’s always been a genocide.
You control their food, water and medicine, and starve them… in self defense? That makes no goddamn sense. Never has, never will. Fuck Zionism.

Threads may be the single unifying server of people who have absolutely no clue about anything. Bsky isn’t perfect, but even with the echo chambers it seems like smarter voices pierce the veil.

Not the first trans man I've heard say this. Getting this is a big step towards understanding why people like Andrew Tate finds it so easy to prey on boys.
