Yeah that’s true. I haven’t really gotten the s/t as a top-to-bottom triumph like everyone else seems to think but there’s no denying the artistry that’s rather unparalleled in their particular circle and I you’re right about everything offering something unique so we’re gonna have different faves.

Lotta talk about the Foxing s/t and (the actual best record) Nearer My God and The Albatross of course but I just wanna say I always thought Draw Down the Moon was and still is wildly underrated. Not as well produced as a/t maybe but there are some serious bangers on that one.

I think to the laymen it’s punk. Or pop-punk. It has that attitude and obviously the shows are high energy in a way I wouldn’t confuse with an “indie” band. But if Dogs is the first Pup record I heard I would call them like an alternative or indie rock band.

You’re not the only person that has argued this, but I’m not really sure what else to call them? Will agree that it’s not pure punk (clearly) and they have trended away from it especially the last couple records.

The controversial part of this take is the use of the word “album” but I do think it’s the most depressing. It was made during a depressing time and Jeff was clearly taking it hard. I do think the songs are good! Also like how they reworked Old Cold when they played it live last summer.
