Can be but I think in reality the more popular platform will come out on top, not the better protocol. Just the way of things. Doesn't indeed make Mastodon a bad platform or anything. It's just the way things are.

It's tough to see people jumping between platforms w/o reflecting on the question of sustainability. But in the world of social media, I guess "go where my people are" is more compelling than "go where I know the decentralized nature of the system will be more resilient to enshittification"
