I met some American friends at a local bistrot yesterday morning, everyone getting Christmassey. One said "You are quiet, Chris" "I am not a believer but can't help reflecting on how believers celebrate the birth of one who preached love and forgivness by bombing the fuck out of his birthplace"

I think men who need to feel superior to others are fundementaly insécure and find control of others réassuring. I don't know ifit is nature or nurture. All I know is my life has been enriched by women I have respected, admired and adored. They have not aways been equal; sometimes have been supérior

I think they invented immaculate conception because they couldn't work out how God could make a woman pregnant in the usual way. Throughout history and in all religions women have been treated as chattel, but that isn't misogyny. Slaveowners didn't hate their slaves, just didn't see them as equals.

Neither do I. I was trying to say that Christians don't understand what they have been taught to believe. Neither do I. If the death of Jesus was God's plan for the salvation of mankind (terms and conditions apply) and If Judas was instrumental in achieving God's plan why is he not revered?

The chief argument against PR has been that it would most likely result in coalition governments. FPTP works in a 2 party contest, albeit imperfectly. In this political landscape with people voting tactically it could produce peverse results.

My guess is that he existed as a charismatic revolutionary leader, a sort of early Che Guevara. The Jewish élite owed their position to Roman patronage so it was in both of their interests to be rid off him. I offer no evidence for this alternative myth.

According to Scriptures Barabbas and his Jewish court found Jesus guilty of blasphemy. But blasphemy was not a crime in Roman law, so Pilate had him tried by a Roman court, convicted of treason, and sentenced to death. The Romans were egged on by the Jews but it wos the Romans wot dun it.

The authoritarian structures built with alarming speed and efficiency under his leadership could not have happened without a well prepared organisation, the construction of which was well beyond Trump's feeble capabilities. He is simply a pupe, so when he goes the machine will still be in place.
