err I couldn't quote the article if I hadn't read it? I agree your X post is more nuanced but I hadn't seen that - and you still quote "Labour insider" analysis uncritically even though you don't seem to agree with it?

Labour didn't lose because of tactical mistakes the "insiders" would have you believe; they lost because their support collapsed over a longer period. Plaid would be amused to hear they had an airwar game during the election. They have one now because they won Caerphilly 2/2

"And the lesson from Plaid Cymru’s victory in the Caerphilly by-election is that the best party to beat Reform is not necessarily the party polling in first or second place" except that the parties polling in 1st/2nd were Reform & PC and had been for months. 1/2

yes I've read the article; the analysis is very flawed

Can’t help thinking @bwalker.uk might understand what happened in Caerphilly a little better if he just looked at the Welsh polls before and during the by-election and did a little less listening to “Labour insiders” who never showed any interest in understanding what was happening locally.

This has to be one of the most thin skinned and naive takes I’ve heard from a public figure. Just wait until March and April, Betsi will be being kicked from Aberdarron to Wrexham….

I think they’d have barred her for being too illiberal

I love the “since when did you start to become abusive?”; no frequent flyer points for the good doctor.

There’s a lot of other people that would worry me more than these guys (who are mostly looking at where they park their floating wind farms rather than their tanks)

Shame there’s a poll out of Manchester yesterday (see @newstatesman1913.bsky.social ) which shows Burnham is the only one who can win the seat for Lab

Starmers position is me first party second country third……

Answers to that kind of questions asked of south Walians rarely end well…..

I suppose it shouldn’t be surprising that a government which came into office with no real idea of what it was going to do doesn’t want to think more than a week ahead. Shockingly irresponsible though

Some serious ballot rigging going on there……

What do the Icelandic cricketers in their 50s believe though? Hopefully nothing related to their cricketing prowess….

According to recent polling Scottish voters are about twice as likely to vote Labour as Welsh voters.

The current owners are absolutely complicit, they didn’t have to do this

To be fair to Trump they were once the same country, in an era where his “values” were more accepted

Cadburys vs Lindt is about as fair a contest as England playing Australia at 🏏
