Here in the UK, the government has just rolled out free breakfast clubs in ALL schools, which is a massive benefit to the kids themselves and also to less well-off and/or single, workong parents.
That's the kind of shit you guys neex, not tacky golden ornaments...

...and even less about who is actually paying the tariffs.

I feel like many Americans miss this important point.
We certainly aren't paying them... (we= 🇬🇧)

But... but immigrants and that...

I could poke myself in the eye, but then again I could also punch myself in the balls... 🤔

She really is that thick, isn't she?

My word... I have a heart condition, and the only - ONLY - cost I incur is £9.90 for my medication, 4 times per year.
Thank the old gods and the new for the NHS. 🇬🇧

The US healthcare system is a disgrace. I had a full checkup yesterday which included checking my blood pressure, blood samples, an ECG, and a flu shot (🇬🇧) and just walked out. Not a penny exchanged.
Out taxes are automatically taken before we even see our paycheck/slip, so we don't even notice it.

Interviewer: So, AFI, what have you been up to while you've been away?
AFI: Listening to The Cure.
Interviewer: Oh, cool. Anything else?
AFI: No.

Looks like Kosovo. How are they surviving day to day in such a hostile warzone?
(Cringes in British...)

- PLEASE take note, UK Government... This would quite literally be life-changing...

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Exactly... I live in one, a small, former mining village in the north east. Reform heartland - it's sickening...

Exactly... they can never answer that.

As a mid-forties, middle class, white man, I heartily agree with this statement.

I'd happily just go without, at this point. It's all just hysterical extremists insulting each other. Way too old for that shit.

Horrendous little pantomime villain of a man.

Oooh... he's a fucking snake. Snivelling, third-generation-inbred little Tory cunt.

She also doesn't know how to use commas. Don't trust her.

I think it's fine to disengage. Nobody is compelled to comment and share every piece of news, and arguing with hysterical people online is pointless. I don't even watch the news anymore for any longer than about 5 minutes at a time. It's just a constant cycle of negativity and divisiveness.

- Loving how much more UK-centric my feed has been of late. The 'muted words' feature on Bluesky is a valuable tool indeed...

'A person went to a moderately scary place.
Nothing bad happened, and no opinions were shared in this mildly unsettling location, and then - bam!
Werewolves.
The werewolves were 'taken care of' off-camera, as it were, in very traditional yet thoroughly non-violent ways.
The end.'
