Wrote a fun trippy tune to promote @studiodeldiablo - started as a test of drum mics. Then I asked Scott Wolfson to whip me up something trippy. Check out the full description on Instagram - Bluesky doesn’t have enough characters to let me post the full thing.

Just watched the first Trolls movie (usually Dee Dee wants the third one), and was wondering: was this movie written by a wedding band musician? Because it seems like the entire soundtrack is every wedding setlist I’ve played over the years.

5 years ago today started “phase 2” of Studio Del Diablo, or as I call it, “the weird years”. Phase 1 was from 2015-2020, building up the business. Now we’re in “phase 3”, rebuilding, and hopefully thriving.

Halloween 2013 I did this makeup for a show I played with a singer songwriter I no longer play with. It was one of those costumes that people either had no idea what I was or thought it was the greatest thing they’d ever seen.

The new old Tom Petty movie by Cameron Crowe just got released. So it’s today’s coffee movie.

Now I know why my stepdad always had me climb behind the racks and do all the patchbay wiring - my 40 year old knees and back hate me right now! And I’m still not done. Need to get another snake to wire up the headphone system (I forgot the outs of the Antelope Orion is DB25). I’m almost all wired!

Starting the week off right - more cleaning but also Secret World Live by Peter Gabriel.

Everyone do yourselves a favor: watch Tom Waits VH1 Storytellers. It’s the most entertaining 45 minutes I’ve seen in quite some time. And the cinematography is amazing - especially “What’s He Building In There”.

The cognitive dissonance of Boomers that bring up “4 dead in Ohio” constantly and then vote for someone who’s going to make that number rise exponentially. Can we at least get a new Devo out of this?

The last of The Dolls has left the building today

Here’s where I’m at so far. Got some more things on order before I can mic up everything, and the headphone system is backordered, but if a full band needed to come in next week, I could probably make that happen. So I’m very close to officially reopening. Also, logo by Scott Wolfson.

Getting one of the more important aspects of the modern studio in place: the right camera angle for Zoom/FaceTime. Because client meetings, parent teacher conferences, therapy sessions, what have you, deserve to have lots of guitars in the background.

Sometimes I let @theonion influence my listening habits. So I put on Breakfast In America last night, and I’m glad I did. I never gave it a deep listen before, it’s a surprisingly great album.

In a tweet where he thinks he struck down congestion pricing, rump declared himself king - he literally said “long live the king”. If he wants to be king, we should treat him like a corrupt king.

My dream of hanging out in the studio listening to records with Dee Dee has come true in glorious fashion. Kids love XTC.

A surprising amount of Tim Bogert’s low end comes through the subwoofer, and it’s fucking fantastic.

Question: how do I do taxes now that an unelected insane drug addict and his child army dismantled the system to do so? Also, how do I do taxes? Jeni took care of that the past decade.

13 years ago I ran the final ever mix session at Race Productions in Port Jeff, my home from 1998-2006, and the family home until 2012. I finished up a mix that my stepdad (Steve Palmer) couldn’t finish on account of having died a month earlier. A couple weeks later we dismantled it and sold it off.
