In beautiful Amden, Switzerland for the Society for Mind Matter Research. This year’s theme is “Flourishing” and we’ve heard a wide range of fascinating talks on the connections between well-being/personal growth and consciousness science. My talk: “Flourishing in the Age of Intelligent Machines”.

All of us at the birth of the School of Cognitive Sciences in 86 became the intellectual children of Maggie Boden and Aaron Sloman, and much improved for it. On this event I feel less the great loss, more the impact of an incredible life, well lived. An unstoppable force

Fantastic to see this empirical demonstration of how people can specifically control their decision bias, separately from performance. Terrific work by Clémence Compain and brilliant supervision and vision from @maxinesherman.bsky.social

The first preprint from Clémence Compain's PhD 🎉 She showed that on a low-stakes numerosity task, people can reduce their decision bias on instruction and do so non-trivially, in a manner distinct from simply "trying harder". Well done Clémence!
