Sports History Trivia: Did you know... Former U.S. President Woodrow Wilson was also a National Champion Football coach! In 1878, Wilson led the Princeton Tigers to a perfect 6-0 record. He is the only former US President that has this distinction.

Today In Sports for June 22, 1981 | John McEnroe defeated Tom Gulikison in three sets with a 7-6 (5), 7-5, 6-3 in the first round at Wimbledon. During the match, a serve made by McEnroe was ruled out and McEnroe shouted the infamous  “You cannot be serious” line.

The 2023 Hockey Hall of Fame class includes Henrik Lundqvist, Caroline Ouellette, Tom Barrasso, Mike Vernon and Pierre Turgeon in the players category. Ken Hitchock and Pierre Lacroix in the builder category.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred stated that Oakland never had a plan to keep the A's in Oakland for a new stadium.. this is completely false. There was a plan in place at Howard Terminal. It was A's owner John FIsher that pulled out of the deal and in favor of a Las Vegas move at the last moment.

CONCACAF has decided to leave Nicaragua out of the 2023 Gold Cup due to a Uruguayan player playing on the Nicaraguan National Team. Nicaragua will also be relegated to the CONCACAF Nations B League. The CONCACAF Gold Cup competition begins June 25 in select US cities.

Sports History - June 14, 1933 | In a game between the Yankees and Red Sox, Lou Gehrig and Joe McCarthy were ejected from the game. McCarthy was suspended 3 games by the AL. Gehrig was not suspended, keeping his consecutive games streak intact at 1,249 games and counting. Almost half way to 2130.

Congratulations to the Denver Nuggets and Vegas Golden Knights for winning their respective league titles this week. Both won their series in five games, clinching at home against the Miami Heat and Florida Panthers respectively.
