Honestly, I would use something higher level than Rust to make a web site. I like Rust a lot, but it's the kind of thing I would write a database in, not a web framework.

If James Bond movies were supposed to have continuity from one to another, Bond would have died of old age by now. There is zero reason to be encumbered by any previous plot lines. Tell any story you want. You don't have to explain a death that never happened in the story you're telling.

They're certainly not in a position themselves where they need to know that.

I think you'd hard pressed to go back and look at anything they did and find a commercial motive that was greater than any artistic one, especially in the early days when they were pretty pointedly swimming against the mainstream and getting beat up in the press regularly for it.
