Three more pieces I’ve created: A conte sketch of a horseshoe crab shell found in the Yucatan; A pencil sketch from a life drawing exercise; an oil sketch exercise using impressionist painting techniques that apply paint over a complementary colour background.

Here are a few photos I took a couple days ago in Cambodia: Angkor Wat temple complex and Ta Prohm temple, both built in 12th century.

Herbert Marcuse was a philosopher who came to prominence in the 30’s, and 40’s. His analysis of western culture and democracies rings especially true today. I came across his book, One Dimensional Man, in art school in the 80’s and it helped shape my world view.

I see the job ads for “teaching AI software” to read, write and talk intelligently and can’t help thinking of the senior employees who train up junior workers, only to be replaced by them with smaller wages. How long until HAL 2.0 refuses to open the economic pod bay doors to us mere mortals?

These are our three lovely Galgo rescues from Spain, where they are bred for hunting and 50-100,000 killed or abandoned annually. Libre had a broken elbow which was never fixed by the galguerro. Walter is blind with one eye removed. Mateo is recovering from his fear of men.

I’ve started a series of paintings and drawings based on travel photos I’ve taken around the globe in recent years. These three oil paintings and drawing are taken from photos in Havana, Cuba and Regla, the municipality just across the harbour from Havana.
