Reminds me of the Sandhust series where the candidate destined for the Guards (?) Basically, he did no exercise but Polo and failed. Was back squaded. Passed second time I believe. But he was from the right family and the right school so...

Part of the rapidity equation was the Mauser charger loading, which was not present for the long lee. Single loading of the magazine only. The original intention was to issue multiple magazines!
