Today I’m traveling from Denver to somewhere in Montana. Just realized I’ve been in Wyoming for the last ~300 miles. Oops. Beautiful country. Not many signs.

Taos, New Mexico visit was a success. Quality brother time and desert time.
A bundle of Chamisa hangs from a post in the desert overlooking a sagebrush covered hill An old white metal stove in a field overlooking mountains in the distance

View from weekend campsite: a furniture designer built a house into a cliff face in Sedona. There’s a cargo elevator at the base of the cliff. Would love to see what this looks like in fifty years.

the post isn’t deleted. as far as i can tell it was flagged by automated systems and hidden from the app automatically after a bunch of people reported it. then it was reviewed and unhidden. optics are bad but it feels more like a tradeoff of automatic hiding vs the community notes approach

FWIW if you subscribe to a moderation service like @skywatch.blue, the profile in question has a content warning. The entire Bluesky ecosystem is designed around this idea of composable moderation. Banning bad actors at only the app level has cursed second order effects (see: X-twitter).

> I think we’re in the lemon stage of the internet.

Akerlof's lemon paper was an early major influence on my thinking so it's always good to see it spreading

After leaving San Francisco, ranting to myself about tech billboards, and a nice highway drive, I’m in Santa Cruz. It’s nice here.

Driving straight up Gough St with a stick shift is a choice I’m not proud of.
