For Classic FM and the BBC national stations on FM, my part of Lincolnshire instead gets a much stronger signal from the Holme Moss transmitter, near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire which launched in Dec 1956, nine years earlier. It were one of the first FM broadcasts to publicly launch in the UK.

That's exactly what they've done in my Lincolnshire town as well. I liked the old dome ones more, they've got more character, but I'm tolerating these replacements because at least they've still got some level of character. They're not just the boring typical square ones which make up about 90%.

Maybe because it would cost millions! The runway is expired, the buildings full of asbestos etc. The RAF have a couple of active bases as back up anyway. Do these people not think to research anything before coming out with this stuff!
