I write about slowing down, noticing more, and living gently. Essays and reflections on Substack.
Part II of a reading series, exploring the different ways reading shows up in our lives: the books that carry us forward, the ones we return to slowly, and the ones that live alongside daily routines.

Some books ask to be read slowly. Others do not. I have been thinking about why we lose momentum with certain books.

If you often leave books unfinished, it may not be a lack of discipline but a mismatch in how the book wants to be read.

Lately, I’ve been reading more slowly, not to finish, but to stay. A winter Sunday morning spent with a book and no hurry.

Sometimes the day gives you a small, ordinary moment that stays.
I’ve written a few gentle thoughts on winter light and noticing more, over on Substack.

Hello, I’m Christine.
I write reflective essays about noticing life, savouring it, and the moments we often only understand later.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often we only realise the value of moments after they’ve passed. I wrote a short reflection about that here.
The Moments We Only Learn to Treasure Later
There is a strange, tender feeling many of us carry, a wish not to change the past, but to have noticed it more.
