If you let your child train endurance at this age, you're depriving them of the ability to become fast. Fast-twitch muscles (speed) are converted into slow-twitch muscles (endurance). This process is irreversible.

However, they're setting a very bad example for the public.

Your child will certainly have fun (hopefully, it's not your own motivation and the pressure of expectations that's driving your child to do it (yes, I know, the child wants it (I've heard that statement before))), and the distance isn't a problem for some children.

That's not a distance a child that age should be attempting.

What organizer is irresponsible enough to approve something like that?
