If you haven’t seen it, watch “Sometimes in April” a docudrama about the leadup to the Rwanda genocide.

The parallels are chilling.

Only the president is immune…not the White House, or the administration.

That is a really strange way to release the Epstein files. But also oddly consistent with what his regime is doing to this country.

They are trying to undo it for sure. But it’s defeatist to say it’s all getting undone.
No laws have been changed.
What you have is an administration looking for ways around the law to undo protections. They will lose most of these cases. But it is incredibly hard and long work to fight them off.

Earth Day 1970 was 20million (and country was smaller then). 🌍

This is a significant day for sure -but the bar was set 55 years ago!

That event led to sweeping change (clean air act, clean water act, endangered species act, the EPA), so we are getting close!! Keep pushing!!

Great sign! Probably from the 1.0 event though it’s pretty rainy here today.

Maybe not as many as the first #EarthDay (20M). There were some other big ones too, but great turnout today nonetheless.

And most importantly, ALL of these major moments have lead to sweeping change.

It’s time!

He won’t be indicted. Or if he is it will be theater, and they’ll slow walk the case just to have it dropped later, for reasons that you suggest.

I agree. I am cognizant of the emergency at hand. 15 years is nothing, but it’s also still in the lower end of probability. Timeline & risk need to be clearly spelled out for smart decision making. If we overstate temporal risk it lessens trust.

Humans are poor at managing long term risk though.

Not as imminent as they make it seem, 2040-2075 is more likely, but it’s still a huge catastrophe.

However when you overstate the timing or magnitude of impacts it opens you up for a denialist response.
