After a bout of hyperfocus that lasted 2-3 weeks, eating up all free time, I completed my novella's first draft. I say 'novella' because that's what I set out to make, but... yeah its a novel now 😅

No one will read it. No one will know I exist. But creating is its own joy 😁 #writing #author #adhd

Cairns mark the deaths of each surprise, But I smile, for starlight fills my skies. Here each day is sunshine-bright, The trees my wall, the birds my knights. Who braves my bastion? Who has the right? Not you. Not you. No one in sight! These berries are sweet, though less than my bliss; sugary rapture with every kiss! I’ll seed the treeline! Come try, I insist! No taste? No tongue! Back to your abyss! A summer eternal, no death, strife, or change! Free from uncertainty, free from all pain! I am who I was; who I’ll be is the same! You’re jealous! You’re foolish! My balm is your bane! Beyond this field fiends contest and beguile, yet I point and I laugh, secure all the while! What pleasure, what joy from my own domicile! Should it burn to the ground so would I with a smile! It would be so easy. So easy to hide somewhere deep in the forest. So easy to turn my head. So easy to drown the contrary chorus. So easy to live like I’m dead. So easy to never admit to my faults. So easy for all growth to end. So easy to decry each cerebral assault. So easy to always pretend. But my truth is not true; I know there is more. I doubt it will ever be so. No meadow remains, no ultimate shore, nor guide pointing which way to go. Why am I to wander when no end awaits? Am I cursed to know I know not? No other recourse, thus I shoulder my fate, chasing a peace I forgot.

Kindling: A Poem by Christopher Katalinas. Move to the next image to read the poem. Prometheus designed to pluck an ember from the sun; delivered to mankind and shared its warmth with everyone! How noble were his actions, how selfless all throughout, and for this grave transaction had his liver bitten out. Ever since its gifting we have sought its kindly glow; a light in shadows shifting, the banishment of snow. So then it is expected, and often quite allowed, for kindling collected to be blazingly endowed. I am not a titan. My shoulders are too thin. My will is prone to frighten; my intellect is slim. But if I give you my fingers, please light them like a match. Stay beside and linger while we let this fire catch. A hand does not suffice? Then let me give my arm. With two I can burn twice to make sure you’ll be twice as warm. The flames are still too feeble? There’s plenty more to give. For all the love of people, have my warmth so you might live. I feel the cold as well. I fear the darkness, too. I crave the shadows quelled and every winter melted through. But when you cry for aid I see myself in every word, so take my hand. Be unafraid. And let my body burn.
