It's been done before, but the consensus is that the amount of energy a panel that fits on a car would generate is inconsequential next to the amount needed to actually move the car. The added cost (monetary, complexity, and weight) of the materials just make it impractical or even detrimental.

It does really bother me when I host events and the entire instance is a PVP zone competing for your system resources.
But if I can't even get people on my friend's list to respect a request for optimization, how can I expect anybody else to respect it in the face of the regulars that just say no?

And honestly, I think the "including friends" part stings the most.
I can excuse strangers who genuinely don't know. But there are so many yellow names that have an attitude of "I know the rule, but I'm an exception" that they're not exceptions anymore. A pervasive "yeah well I'm doing it anyway."

When it's only a few people out of 80 I don't mind.
But when it's at least half the instance, includes friends, and everyone responds "then hide me" or "it's ok it's only polys" or "everyone else is too" ... it's just entirely unwinnable.

I'm very excited to see everybody, don't be afraid to come hang out or say hi!! Please just understand that if I seem a bit stressed or come off a little short I promise it's not you, there's just so much going on both inside and outside the event that has my attention.

Whatever you end up doing, please please please be upfront about what things you are/aren't streaming (explicitly tell people, set status, whatever).
I've been hit with "oh btw you're on twitch right now and chat says hi" and I did not appreciate finding that out 15 minutes into the conversation 😐

Whatever you end up doing, please please please be upfront about what things you are/aren't streaming (explicitly tell people, set status, whatever).

If all you want to do (for now) is redirect it to a Linktree or other existing site, a lot of domain registrars will let you just put that link in and do all the setup for you. I think Cloudflare does this but a bunch of others probably do as well. Happy to look at it later if you want.
