Bga reball update. We got him
September 12, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Tried to manually reball a 153 BGA today. Placing the balls wasn't too bad but then the damn balls wouldn't melt with my hot air station at max temp 😭

I really need to get a bga hot plate...

Getting the ADHD urge to take on a new hobby and my current obsession is CNC machining. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced machine (<1k) capable of working on at least aluminum, maybe steel, with a Z height greater than 4", and possibly even 4 axes? Willing to build a kit #cnc #DIYmachining

Anyone have recommended soldering hot plates for BGA rework? Looking to pick something up to make my life a bit easier but don't want to spend >$100

Won a handcuff breakout challenge at defcon! Handcuffed behind the back and had to get out within 30 seconds to win a handcuff key #defcon33 #physecvillage

Heading out to Vegas on Wednesday for Defcon 33. I'll be spending quite a bit of time in the IoT village so feel free to stop by and get your hands on some IoT device hacking or just to shoot the shit. #defcon #iothacking

My wife and I adopted a pair of bonded sibling kittens today and I'm already fully obsessed with them. They're already so comfortable with us and have fallen asleep in my lap multiple times.

Welp, kinda ruined the end of expedition 33 for myself by doing way too much exploring between the final boss of act 2 and the final boss of the game. Boss didn't even get to attack me once 🙃

Possibly a dumb question for the hardware hackers of the world, but why can't I seem to get flashrom to work with my Tigard on Mac? UART works fine and minicom/pyftdi appear to connect to FTDI just fine but flashrom keeps telling me it can't find the FTDI device #hardwarehacking #tigard

Having ADHD and the memory of a goldfish, I have never related more to a cartoon character. I'm usually just slightly off #learnallthethings #forgetallthethings

One of these days I'll actually heed the advice from the adage "why spend 5 minutes reading documentation when you could spend 2 hours troubleshooting?"

In other news, keyboard firmware has been updated with combo support. No more typing out my name, email, or IP addresses. Gotta go fast #QMK

Hot take: the only printer worth owning is a 3d printer. 3d printers are actually made to work. If I need to print paper, I go to my library <5 minutes away and pay 10¢ for b&w or 25¢ for color. I've spent less than $1 all year printing out shipping labels instead of fighting a PoS home printer.

Think I may have figured out my layer adhesion issues. Moved to a more level surface, swapped nozzles, used a popular orca config for my printer, re-leveled the bed about 10 times, swapped to gyroid infill, and found out my hotend was surrounded in a block of plastic #3dprinting #troubleshooting

I've just rewritten ActiveScan++ in Java to lay the foundation for some major enhancements. It's not in the BApp store yet but if you'd like to take it for a spin you can grab it here:

Delta surprised with me 4 hours worth of delays so I decided to update my keyboard firmware and my documentation. Why be normal when you can be a nerd? #ergo_keyboards #charybdis

Looking for 3d modeling software recs for 3d printing. I have minimal experience with 3d modeling. Preferably something free and relatively easy to learn. I'd rather not have to learn a bunch of shortcuts or navigate 100 drop down menus. Preferably runs on MacOS #3dprinting #3dmodeling

Wannabe hardware/IoT hacker's first lab setup. Now I just gotta get good #IoT #hardwarehacking

Please ignore the falling apart and extremely 60s wood paneling 😅

Hey Bluesky world it's yours truly, chronoloper. Generally a lurker and not too active on social media but I'm a penetration tester who loves technology, security, keyboards, games, general nerdery, and cute cats. Check out my latest project where I built a Charybdis keyboard from bastardkb 🤓
