Others argue about their 'freedom of speech'. Discord is a private platform owned by a commercial entity. It is not a bastion of free speech.

I'm an advocate of privacy and freedom of speech, but people need to understand that Discord is not an affordance of either.

Just me still using async-IIFE rather than top-level await?

(I know there's probably technical reasons why TL-await was only available in 'modules', but that's not always a workable option)

Assuming we're talking about the 'posters' which were on cardboard, and had black felt for the lines (and you'd colour in between them)?

Oh my god, I literally forgot those were even a thing.

God damnit, I need more core childhood memories unlocking. It's been too damn long.

Y'know how many times I've been changing colour codes in a live-preview environment, seen the colour change as I type in the 4th digit? So many.

Not once did I ever stop to think "maybe I should look into that more".

Folks using this tool are in the 'find out' stage.

Those same folks would happily push platforms out with open databases and buckets because of slop-coding.

Zero sympathy, but I have my fingers crossed that it's a learning experience for them.

Satya recently said (paraphrasing) 'People need to stop calling it slop', and then more recently said 'a lot of people are using Copilot'.

Collectively, I think the entire industry laughed when they heard that.

Got my fingers crossed that it's the start of the end of the slop avalanche.

Yep. After the markets closed on Friday, they've reportedly said they're scaling back (www.xda-developers.com/microsoft-re...).

Financial results showed 66% surge in spending over the last year (lots in AI), with 'only' a 17% increase in revenue (www.ft.com/content/42f8... ). Share price dropped.
Microsoft is reportedly backing down on its AI-first plan after people made their voices heard
If true, it may mark the end of an era.

Comedy is about delivery and timing, and this is just *chef kiss*

(Context: Microsoft said on Friday that they're looking into reassessing their position and whether they should continue investing into AI, and I wouldn't be surprised if others begin to do the same)

A lot of people: The AI party is so cool!

*StackOverflow strides into the room*

SO: Hey party people, are you ready to rock?!

*cricket sounds*

*people screaming while rushing for the exits*

A dedicated 'clone window' option would be fine, but it should be handled via an explicit user-generated action - e.g. a right-click / menu option.

The 'window sync' feature is so bad from so many angles that I'm gonna compare it to what Copilot is in Windows and Edge.

If I want to jump on a video call with a client, I usually want a separate window. It means I don't lose the video window, but I'm also not cluttering up the window with other tabs.

The workspace / container preserves my existing logins, meaning I don't have to sign in again in the new window.
January 31, 2026 at 1:28 PM
They offer 'New Blank Window'. This doesn't preserve your workspaces - maybe you want that sometimes, but I most often want my workspaces preserved, because they're containers and will remember where I'm logged in.

When I open a new window in any other app, it's not a clone of an existing window, at least not as default behaviour.

Zen should not enforce this as the default behaviour, as it poses privacy risks (e.g. screen sharing on a call), and offers no benefit.
