Absolutely. People think that's a joke, but it is 100% true. In today's world people want authenticity. They want to feel your passion. Fake, focus group tested, careful messaging arrived at by triangulating on poll data....fuck no. Just stop.

It's all about authenticity. What do people feel a candidate cares about. That can be defined by the candidate, the media, and the opposition.

I think it has become more of a status symbol than an objectively more attractive look. It's the equivalent of designer jeans in high school. If you're rich you have to have them to show that you're rich.
