Yea, fully admitting I don't ask people to switch for all the reason's you've stated. The whole scene just got away from enforcing optimization. I don't know how we encourage better

Also, what headset are you running? The resolutions of the current crop of VR headsets make them much more difficult to run than the gear we started out with. The total increase in pixels compared to the Vive & Rift CV-1 is massive.

Things are so mixed

Booth base poly count has crept upwards

The tools VRC added sorta backfired because people now just say stuff like "well hide my avatar"

There are Unity based optimization tools now that make it easier than needing to open Blender, but still takes effort and knowledge to use

I have been wondering how we can get back to a culture of encouraging optimization.

People seem allergic to asking people to switch avatars. Though frankly it was always a conflict, but the scene regulars at least were willing to make an effort.

Between this thread and and the quote posts, I'm now considering 4-deck mixing an orgy
