Totally - the first edition had the typo for sure (found in a scanned PDF of the second printing). I think the fix was in place by the 7th print run (the one with me), though the correction didn’t seem to carry over every time

The 1980 (hardcover from my school library) and the 1993 2nd (on MIT Media Lab website) editions both have LOSSLEFT printed correctly. Looks like a misprint in later editions
