Bombus is still going strong until the 28th, but we’re excited to announce our next temporary exhibit. Reno artist Tamami Tokutake renders local places in beautiful pastels in her show “The Gravity of Landscapes,” Opening this January. Artist reception Saturday 1/17 from 3-5. Hope to see you there!

As we enter the last week of Native American heritage Month, we want to invite you to come visit over 3500 years of basketry! We have fragments on display from Hidden Cave dated to 1800-1500bc, historic period trade baskets, and modern beaded baskets. Take a close look & compare these pieces!

It’s National Butter Day! When most people think of butter churns today, they think of the plunger-type ones. However, barrel churns like this one were also very common, and generally more efficient than plunger churns.

It's almost that time once again. Our annual holiday open house will be Saturday, December 6 from 12-3 pm. As always, the wonderful Tintabulations will be joining us. The concert starts at 1, and there will be crafts and light refreshments. Join us for a free afternoon of family holiday fun!

Pumpkin Spice Lattes have been sold across the US since 2004, but did you know that premixed pumpkin pie spices predate it by almost 70 years? Though called pumpkin pie spice rather than simply pumpkin spice, you could buy this mix from the Ben-Hur company, which operated from the 20s to the 50s.

This week for #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth we suggest checking out our Carson Desert exhibit. Our diorama features a traditional Paiute home, boat, various baskets, and images showing how traditional practitioners make these structures and tools!
