4/4: If you're a fan of human flourishing, making an AI deserving of rights is a catastrophically bad idea. I fear the future my kids will inherit. But if an AI meets fair criteria for self determination, like anyone else, it deserves rights.

3/4: Perhaps, a better approach is to define the characteristics of an entity deserving rights. If your definition includes "biological human," you'll find a home with the prior scholars that used euphemisms like "European Land Owner" in place of "us, not them."

2/4: Neuroscience and AI are synergistically accelerating. Today, we can alter the connections in an artificial network so it thinks the Eiffel Tower is in any city we choose. How far away is a the biological equivalent? Do we really want rights dependent on "unalterable" programming?

1/4: Without a lucid scientific theory of consciousness, emotions, or intelligence, this paper is an exercise in motivated reasoning and jargon tensegrity.

Luminaries like Kant, Jefferson, Hume, and Aristotle also wrote about the metaphysical justifications of "natural slaves."

I went through the Fusion 101, still don’t get it. An unaddressed problem is extremism driven by the need to appeal to primary voters. Spoiler candidate is still a problem unless the 3rd party candidate is also a major party candidate?

I don’t get it. How does putting the same candidate on a ballot multiple times help? Why this over ranked choice or rated voting?

Their whole point is that progress against big problems is not only possible but has been underway for a long time. Immense progress can be made fitting our draw on global resources within the planet’s carrying capacity IF people can see beyond locally under-informed fatalism.

This is so depressingly Orwellian.

“Here right matters.” I cheered like it’s was a superbowl touchdown. That’s American. That’s patriotism.

Cause when love is gone,
There’s always justice.
And when justice is gone,
There’s always force.
And when force is gone,
There’s always mom.

"Here right matters" that must be made true again. Must be.

IDLE’s tribute to her: the lyrics “Like Kathleen Hanna with bear claws grabbing Trump by the pussy. How’d you like those cliches?”

Now that you’ve said it, I can’t unsee it.
